Signs of summer

This year was my first real, though small, vegetable garden. I used a variation of square foot and lasagna gardening by layering grass clippings, dry leaves, cow manure and compost started last year. I will need to make better trellis/cages for the tomatoes. This fall I'm looking forward to lettuces, greens, maybe beets and broccoli.

The kids swam on the swim team this year. Sean is strong in breaststroke; Leah free and fly. We were happy to see them become confidant swimmers this year; and I must say my heart swelled seeing them enjoy a sport that was such a big part of my life.
